This blog post was written and published by Linden Alexander Pentecost, and was published early in the morning on the 23rd of September 2026. This blog post is unrelated to and separate from any and all of my other publications, including from those wherein I discuss many other aspects to these topics. I also created the two pieces of art included in this blog post, which have not been published before. This blog post was published in the UK and no AI was used in this nor in any of my written works. Note that this blog post is very open and positive towards polyamory,
and that the second piece of art (not visible in the link to this blog post on this site's main page) is not "erotic" or "adult", but discretion is advised, as the second piece of art contains some (non-sexual) depictions of partial adult nudity, but only above the waist. Whilst this blog post is positive towards polyamory and towards the interactions between the twin-flame and triad phenomena generally, it does end on a note that also advocates for twin-flame love, or a similar kind of love. This blog post will be followed up with a blog post discussing other new aspects to these topics, in a sense in continuation from this blog post on this page. This blog post on this page contains a total of 2847 words.
I have discussed and published about this subject a ridiculous number of times before, discussing different aspects of it not mentioned here. I guess part of the reason for that is that the "twin-flame" concept is one that feels inherently very sacred to me.
But what is it, in essence?
Jewish and Greek traditions, i.e. Judaic mystic traditions and Plato from Greece, both imply the existence of a spiritual truth about meeting the "other half" of our spirit. It is implied in both cases that each of us has "one other" out there in the World, who is the literal "other half" of our spirit or soul. So as a man my "energy" or "soul" would be the masculine half or component of the whole, whilst my twin-flame out there would be the "feminine" polarity of our spirit or soul.
This idea is, from my experience, one of the main pillars, if not one of the most central pillars, of modern, New Age, spiritual understanding - and of spiritual understanding across modern cultures as a whole.
Most cultures do not have this concept of a "twin-flame" in quite the same way, but nevertheless, many, if not most cultures possess an idea about the ideal, most spiritual form of love, being this same kind of "masculine-feminine" divine reflection, even if it is not implied in all cultures that this "other person" is predetermined.
In fact, when we look at the concept of how a soul could split into two halves, and how this is reflected in modern spirituality, then the ability for a soul to "split" in two halves to then create us as individuals - actually entirely depends upon how we perceive time.
For example, in a strictly causative reality and understanding of time, where past events "cause" events in the present - the "twin-flame" spiritual idea makes perfect sense, and is true. I am not saying it is not true. I myself have experienced this "twin-flame" thing with someone I met when we were both 19.
What I am saying however, is this idea of the love being "predetermined" might be true in one reality, in our human time, reality and understanding of timelines and reincarnation etc - yet simultaneously my twin-flame relationship with her might not be strictly determined and absolute from a different perspective of time.
Jewish tradition also implies that God can "arrange" a second twin flame meeting by re-writing the rules of time. This is a beautiful thought, and fundamentally it connects back to this idea that yes - one one level a "twin-flame" is one other person, from one perspective of reality. But from another perspective of reality, the "twin-flame" is something within our spiritual self, and when we tap into our inner God, another person can "become" our twin-flame.
This does not negate the existence of the twin-flame as one other person that we meet. But what I am saying is that there could well be multiple layers and expressions of what this "twin-flame" love is, depending on how we perceive ourselves, time, and the World.
Photo below: a photo of some artwork, depicting an adult man and adult woman, glowing with their kundalini energy and chakras represented. See the other piece of art in this blog post for how a triad relationship might alter or change the more common balance of this energy, which is colour-represented in the art below, with the man's form giving off a blue and white masculine glow, and with the woman's form giving of a reddish-gold glow. This is symbolic of Vedic tradition, as are the colours of the chakras.
The concept of "causality" is intimately tied into this subject. The idea of a single twin-flame is dependent upon absolute causality, the idea that the past or an original event absolutely causes the present circumstances. This causality is what makes "one person" our twin-flame, because according to linear time, something can only have one origin.
When we take linear time and causality out of the picture though, we might experience someone as our twin-flame, and that is true, and real, but at the same time, with multiple origins being possible in the eternal "now", with no causality, this means that equally we might experience one person as a twin-flame initially, in a linear time sense, but then might experience the same with another person, who "becomes" our twin-flame. But these possibilities remain connected to the concept that twin-flame love is ultimately a divine union between two people - that it has to be "two", and that this is the most pure and spiritual form of love. Or is it?
Photo below: a photo of the second piece of art for this article/blog post, this one showing (unlike the one further up) how the different Vedic masculine and feminine energy colours have "merged" and "flowed" into a different dynamic between the three adults depicted in the art below, which demonstrates what may happen to the Twin Flame energy once a second man becomes involved with the original man and woman, depicted below the adult man on the left (the original man depicted differently and with masculine energy colours in the art further up), is depicted in the art below as having taken on more feminine energy colours, particularly the reds and pinks which represent different kinds of energy, whilst the second adult man on the right is showing more typically masculine energy colours, and has in effect become the main "masculine" energy of this triad, whilst the feminine energy colours are shared between the original man and woman. The adult woman depicted between the two men is also bearing a glowing star or flower around her hips, representative of the "opening of the flower" (this "opening of the flower" is sometimes described to me by a lady who I have had conversations about polyamory with, who compared the idea of entering polyamory and a more free form of sexuality and love as being akin to opening a divine flower, which I depict in the art below as pink and golden in colour. All of the colours, and their placement, in the art below, are symbolic. Note also that two of the men's hands are giving off excess light energy from the union, with the implication that this is flowing out into the universe from their kind hearts, which hands are representative of.
The twin-flame love is sacred. Because from my experience, it does feel like it has existed forever and is eternal. No matter how we come to it, it's the same feeling, and when we take linear time out of the picture, this makes perfect sense.
But it is so sacred for being with just one person, because it is akin to the entire universe being opened with a single key. I remember in one "twin-flame" experience I had with my original twin-flame, I was on the phone to her, and suddenly felt as though my "body" was nolonger the limit of who I was. The wind was blowing in birch trees at night, and I literally felt as though I expanded into the wind and trees, and kept on expanding. I could feel the birches and the wind as "myself". It was like I was becoming the whole of creation, that our love between just two people literally flowed us into the entirety of the cosmos. I remember that for the next day or so, I felt strange, I felt like I was floating almost, not in a sense of being really high or anything - I mean, I felt that "expanding" sensation still, like I wasn't just my body, I was being held within the heart of life, and flowing into it. I have experienced similar things since.
The point is that, it's sacred I think especially because of this concept. When there's only two people whose love unlocks the innermost flow of love and creation, the entire universe echoes and reflects their love back to them. The fact that there is only two people, makes their love boundless, it encompasses all of creation but is only experienced through two people.
Very occasionally however I have come across this concept of the "third energy". However this twin-flame love comes about between two people, two energies naturally create a third energy, which is the combination of their two energies. But equally, this "third" energy can instead be seen as the original energy that was always there, with the man and woman or other combinations of two adults, being the two polarities of this energy in the physical realm.
But can this third energy also manifest as another person? Could this be an act of the couple pouring their original divine love into another, and would this alter the dynamic of the twin-flame relationships? And furthermore, why would anyone want to do this?
I think that firstly, yes, it is possible for this original love energy to be "drawn forth" and "birthed out" and for this to then manifest physically as a third adult who joins the couple. Most twin-flame gurus, even those few who have discussed this concept vaguely, and briefly, would absolutely forbid against this "third" person being actually a part of the twin-flame dynamic, with them instead just holding the third energy in erotic/sexual situations.
However, let's go back to non-linear time. If the original twin-flame couple were not ordained by "linear time" but instead tapped into the eternal love in a non-linear way, then, taking the idea of multiple origins into account, then could this third person, say another man, also become a "twin-flame" as their divine infinite love, simply takes a different path simultaneous to the one the original couple share?
Would this alter the dynamic of the twin-flame relationship? Yes. But when taking linear time and space out of the equasion, could the twin-flame come instead to exist as a kind of triad-flame? When things are not linear and can simultaneously be true, the two men would in a sense both be the woman's twin-flame, just different expressions and aspects of it.
And why would anyone want to do this - to deliberately ruin or liberate a twin-flame bond? Perhaps because doing so is the ultimate faith in love, the alternative of a "triad flame" might be appealing to the more spiritually adventurous, or to those whose spirituality does not quite fit the linear time model of our reality. And we need both the linear time model, and the trickster figures who alter it. Twin-flames as a concept bring romantic love and relationships to a spiritual realisation and context. But our more raw nature of falling in love and sexuality is still a part of human existence, and this I think is something that also needs to be elevated into spiritual understanding and foresight, rather than the twin-flame model being seen as the only option.
One could also argue that, if twin-flames were ready and had "gone through" and resolved all their karma etc, they can come together. But the reality is different and does not actually seem to depend on how "enlightened" we are. But many would say that if we were with our twin-flame, we would feel no desire to connect with others, that it would not be possible.
But I don't think that that is strictly true. Maybe the desire in both adults in such a situation, is "born" from past traumas and fears in linear time, because again, according to many "if they didn't have these fears they would not have the desire for anything but each other", etc. But again, from a perspective of non-linear time, rather than explaining their "desire" as a fault that was "caused" by a particular event, in some cases that desire might come from something inherently spiritual within themselves. With no strict or single origin, certain "kinks" or ideas of love that don't cause harm or break the law, are no-longer "faults" but rather divine aspects to their spiritual nature. In some cases, by pursuing one person as the "twin-flame" and suffering for years waiting for the time to be perfect, and by rejecting these more creative but positive aspects of ourselves, we might be more rejecting our spiritual selves rather than embracing them.
I still believe in twin-flames as a part of my core spiritual beliefs. Just as I believe in God or in the Great Spirit as a part of my core spiritual beliefs. In a sense, the twin-flame is the most divine human expression of God, within linear time. But I also know that spirituality and our human perception is not so simple. That there are aspects to ourselves, gods, and aspects to our reality, that we have forgotten about, which can only be seen or glimpsed beyond the boundaries of perceiving time as linear. If I was to ever become properly polyamorous, I would wish for the seeds of that love to be monogamous, and shared with only one other person at first. But I could also see such a love becoming something else. And whilst I embrace the truth of the twin-flame thing, a part of me also thinks "no matter what, I can contain, give, receive the same level of love" with another person, regardless of whether or not it is or isn't a "twin-flame" in terms of how people define it. Who cares? The twin-flame is a real aspect to divine love, it is real. But it is not the only "real".
I am a romantic person, and it is strange if not ironic that the "Romantic" renaissance period is connected to both the most heartwarming philosophies and tales of Romantic love at a twin-flame level, but is simultaneously the setting where things like three person relationships first appeared in literature. I am a romantic person. I don't align with polyamorous culture any more than with any other culture, but I am a person of contradictions, romantically. In terms of my spiritual views, I do believe in a Great Spirit or God, and I find New Age spirituality interesting and to hold truth, but I also feel it is a subjective truth. I am far more likely to draw my understanding from what indigenous peoples say. But at the same time, polyamory is not common among indigenous peoples, and yet I feel fundamentally that it is part of spirituality, something inherently ancient. We can see glimpses of this in the Roman telling that the Attecotti tribe in Scotland had women, which took many husbands. Similarly the Majos women of pre-Columbian Lanzarote would take multiple husbands. This was a part of our world, but even most indigenous groups, do not place focus upon it, and tend to view monogamy as the Romantic relationship ideal. In some ways, my spirituality is a place of contradiction, and of unravelling and connecting those contradictions - which is a process and journey which I wholeheartedly embrace.
At the same time though, a part of me does wonder if, once the "freedom" of polyamory is experienced, that it might sometimes bring people to a mental state of boredom and disinterest in polyamory. I think in some cases the experience of it brings people to a realisation that actually, if this was our only life on this Earth in human form, perhaps we would rather share that specialness with one person.
I hope that this article/blog post was an interesting read. The next blog post will be a kind of follow on from this one. This blog post is dedicated to the search for real love.
